You definitely don’t have to be an experienced golf enthusiast to appreciate the fact that St Andrews means you are in the “Home of Golf”. But if you are and haven’t been to St Andrews, you wont be disappointed. When I came here I had no experience or knowledge of golf really…but trust me, the Old Course and the grounds around it in the sunset is nothing less than beautiful! The history that surrounds the golf community is fascinating and the amount of tourists and life it brings to this little town is wonderful, in my opinion.

The picture for example, is from one of the annual golf tournaments held here where professional golf players team up with celebrities and the town becomes BUZZZIIING! Everybody keeps a secret lookout hoping to see Jamie Dornan or Hugh Grant, students get the chance to work for the competition and it all ends with a fab firework display on the last night!

!Recommendation! The Golf Café is great, even for studying, the Old course hotel bar is amazing and has stunning views of the courses and the sea! The courses are right next to the beach which makes it my favorite area to go on walks, I never get tired of those views!

I personally took up golf last year and have been taking lessons until last week when I had my last one for the term. Love it! You get extremely good value for your money, there are so many perks of being a student when it comes to playing golf here (which is otherwise crazy expensive). I think its the best break away from the library, get some fresh air! The instructors are fantastic and as they vary from week to week in my case, I’ve gotten some great advise and opportunity to advance. Hoping to get my handicap before the end of term!
