One year ago, I never would have imagined myself to be in this position. University?

It is life-changing: living in London, being an international student, and moving on to the next phase of life. If coping with university is tough, imagine having to struggle with a new environment, manage your finances, and well, housemates.

I am Kai, a second year student reading Mathematics and doing a minor in Modern Languages. Quirky? I know. I am still trying to swim my way through heaps of coursework; but I love (not always) every bit of what I am learning.

sometimes the lecturer doesn't know what he is teaching as well. #MATH1402 #myuclyear #stokes&green #whatisgoingon

I was very fortunate to have tried many new things over the past year. I got back into swimming, tried out Musical Theatre, and travelled around Europe. I even attended summer school in the University of British Columbia (UBC) at Sauder Business School.

Life in London as a student is both exciting and tiring; striking a balance is the key to getting the most out of the experience or you will end up sleep deprived like me!

Here’s to my first post, and I hope to follow this up with many of my musings, activities, and happenings! In the posts to come, I will be sharing my insights on:

Mathematics in university;
Languages;
Clubs and Societies (UCLU Swimming Club);
Living in London, etc.
