Brooklyn Beckham Goes to College

Let the world know: Brooklyn Beckham is going to college, and he has chosen the Parsons School of Design. The teenage girl crush, youth style icon, and Instagram hypeboy (10m+ followers) appeared in NYC earlier this week, ready for class. Joined by his father - the superstar footballer considered at times to possess the world's most coveted right foot - Brooklyn strolled the streets around Parson's campus in Greenwich Village, Lower Manhattan.

Brooklyn was born in London, UK in 1999, to global media icon parents, footballer David Beckham and popstar Victoria Beckham (nicknamed Posh Spice while a member of the global pop sensation Spice Girls). Brooklyn's proximity to celebrity from an early age was further fuelled by his godparents Elton John (one of the world's best selling artists of all times) and British model/actress Liz Hurley.

As a kid, Brooklyn had to switch schools several times given the family's moves between the UK (where his father played football for Premier League team Manchester United), Spain (Real Madrid) and the US (LA Galaxy). Upon teenage years, however, the Beckhams let their kids root themselves in the UK, and Brooklyn attended a private school near the family's home ('Beckingham Palace') in Hertfordshire on the British countryside.

It's been widely reported Brooklyn was a good student, obtaining nice results in both his GCSEs and A Levels. It's perhaps no surprise that he also spent much of his teenager years playing football. A solid member of the London Premier League club Arsenal's youth team, Brooklyn had talent on the field and was (perhaps inevitably) often expected to follow his father's footsteps.

However, Brooklyn's passion has turned out to fall closer to his mother's field of music and fashion. Victoria Beckham rose to global stardom as a member of Spice Girls, the girl squad of the 1990s behind hits like "Spice up your life" and "Wannabe". More recently, she has launched her own highly successful fashion house featured widely at fashion weeks around the world. Brooklyn, perhaps inspired by the aesthetics he has been surrounded by - or by the constant presence of camera lenses pointed at him and his family - has picked up a keen interest in photography. For a long time, he has shared his photography work through his widely followed Instagram account, but as of this month, it's also available in his own book 'What I See'. Brooklyn is enrolling at Parsons to study Photography, and has stated his ambition is to work with it full time for his career.

CampusTales wishes Brooklyn an amazing time at Parsons, and while we're curious how he will enjoy college life, who he will be friends with, and whether he will keep playing some football on the side...we are pretty confident we know which NYC neighbourhood he will choose to live in!
