Big City Campus
Former British Prime Ministers Neville Chamberlain and Stanley Baldwin, CEO of Manchester United Football Club David Gill
Founded in 1900 with a vision defined by statesman Joseph Chamberlain, the University of Birmingham prides itself on a commitment to progressiveness. It was the country’s first civic or ‘redbrick’ university, with students accepted regardless of their background or religion. Birmingham today is considered among the better universities in the country, and while it is located 5 or so km outside the city centre, it’s a quick bus-ride to get into “Britain’s second city”. World leading medical research, the country’s top rated drama programme, and a mecca for sports lovers – that’s all found at the university! The diversity of the university is reflected in both student body and curriculum.
