Located along the Potomac River in central Washington D.C., Georgetown University is among the most prestigious universities in the USA and has a good reputation internationally. Given its home turf, the school is strong in political science, foreign service studies, and other social sciences, but it also has strong (predominantly post-graduate) faculties in law and medicine. Students at the university are among the most politically active of any college in the US, and the university hosts the Philodemic Society, one of the oldest debating clubs in the country. Sports also play a big role around campus and Georgetown brings a particularly strong game on the basketball court.
