Big city university

A multi-faculty private research university located in Washington D.C.’s Foggy Bottom neighborhood, George Washington University is at the heart of American politics (and indeed named after its first President). In fact, the school is located only 4 blocks away from the white house and more than 130 GWU alumni have are/have been elected officials, whether it be governors, senators or members of congress. In addition to strong undergraduate teaching across a number of disciplines, the university is well known for its graduate programmes in Law and Education.
GW is often considered to be among the “most politically active” schools, and student life is in part focused on this. However, there are plenty of other activities and associations to focus on as well, and sports plays a big role on campus.
