They say that everything is bigger in Texas – well this holds true for its most famous university, UT Austin, which spans a remarkable campus and hosts over 50,000 students. A research-intensive multi-faculty university with a very solid reputation, it is perhaps best-regarded in the STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths). This is one of the factors behind Austin’s emergence as the tech start-up cluster of the south.
Student life is dominated by the Greek system (Frats & Sororities) and college sports. For those with a more artsy preference, Austin as a city is a youthful, trendy hotspot with a vibrant music, arts and nightlife scene – often referred to as the “Live music capital of the world”.
